Christine served as the food committee chair for a KaBOOM! build October of 2007. "Essentially I kept everyone fed and watered, and it was a wonderful experience!" she said.

Carla started using kaboom.org last year to help raise money for a new playground at a local school. "It was nice to get ideas for fundraising and see what other people are doing," she said. "We have a very small school, one class, one grade, and there's a playground for very young children on one side of the school but nothing for the older children."

Carla sent letters to businesses and wrote a grant to help fund the new playground, and her group also held a walkathon to raise money. "Combining all that, we managed to scrape together $14,000 and bought a playground for the older kids on the other side of the school," she said.
